My name is Kathy and I have a passion for crafting! Sewing and knitting are top of the list but I felt, weave, bake, make jam/chutneys and have dabbled with jewelery making. I’ve lived in Scotland since I was 11 when a new job for my Dad brought us up here.
I’ve had many different jobs over the years but my best role was being a mother to my 4 children. I was a “stay at home” Mum only taking part-time jobs as the children grew older.
When one of my daughters told me she was expecting a little girl I was just buzzing with ideas for making upcycled baby clothes for her, that’s how this website came into being. Lilly Anne was born on 27th August 2014, a healthy 8’12 and the perfect model for baby clothes!
I have another Granddaughter who is now 13 and at that age where wearing anything home made is just not done. I’m sure that’ll change as she grows up. I taught her her to use a sewing machine when she was 8 and she is quite a competent seamstress now. This Granddaughter keeps me right with things like Instagram, social media and useful apps for my smartphone!
A few random facts about me:
- I was born in Chepstow, England in 1956.
- I have 2 sisters, I’m the middle one.
- I married in 1978 and am now widowed.
- I have 4 grown up kids.
- My home is in Angus Scotland which I share with my 3 dogs.
- I have a passion for sewing machines and own a few.
- Hobbies as well as sewing are knitting (and all things crafty), reading, swimming, gardening, baking/cooking and walking my dogs.
- I hate ironing!
- I have an HND in computing, (technical support) and am the “fixer” for family and friends when they have computing issue.

Hey Kathy,
I have been working my tail off on my site. I know I need a better background or something but drop by and tell me what you would do. Can you give me some advice, I take all comments into consideration
Thanks,
Steve Sweet
I’m happy to help but if you want advice can you pm me via Wealthy Affiliate, as this comment has no relevance to my Upcycled site.
I did try to send you an email but the email bounced back.
Take care,
Kathy
Great site you have built here. I really love the idea and the content of the site. Very well designed and laided out. My mother loves to knit and sew. So that is the reason I dropped by. Could you please stop by my site and give me some feedback all is welcome.
Thanks for some great ideas.
Steve
I learnt to knit and sew from my Gran, she kept us all supplied with woolly jumpers in the winter time. All her sewing was done by hand, no fancy sewing machines on those day! 🙂
